In line with its commitment to humanitarian service, a special initiative was carried out today to support the emotional wellbeing of children residing at the temporary relief camp maintained at Kossinna Nagawanarama Temple, Rambukkana.

The relief camp currently shelters 30 families displaced due to the Gangekumbura landslide, with 40 children among them. Recognizing the emotional impact disasters can have on young minds, the temple organized a children’s art competition aimed at providing psychological comfort and creative expression during this challenging period.

In parallel with this activity, equal gifts were presented to all participating children, ensuring inclusivity and joy for every child, regardless of competition outcomes.

Each child received a carefully prepared stationery and learning kit consisting of:

• Drawing Books

• Single-Rule Exercise Books

• 24-Colour Pastel Packs

• Stapler Machines & Pin Packs

• Foot Rulers

• Erasers

• Pens & Pencils

• Cutters

This meaningful initiative was organized as an act of merit and compassion, acknowledging the importance of mental wellbeing for children experiencing displacement and uncertainty during times of crisis.

The total value of the donated items amounted to LKR 84,000, made possible through the generous contributions of Mr. Thusitha Rajapaksa, kind-hearted friends, and the devoted members of the Paath Nirwana Groups, who responded promptly to a short appeal for support.

The organizers extend their heartfelt gratitude and merit-sharing to:

• Venerable Denagama Dhammarathana Thero, Chief Incumbent of the Nagawanarama Temple, who oversees the operations of the relief camp
